David Mann was at the Tampa Theater Friday night as part of the Night of Laughter and Praise. The stand up comedian along with funny man Akintunde kept the audience bowled over with laughter.
A highlight and surprise for the night was when his wife, gospel singer extradonaire, Tamela Mann showed up on stage to introduce him. To say that the award winning singer is a true fan of her husband is an understatement.
“You can expect the unexpected with David Mann. He’s gonna have you rolling and have you crying a lil bit,” bragged the Stellar award winner.
Christian comedian Akintunde was a great opening to the show and also a big fan and friend to the Mr. Brown actor.
“David Mann is hilarious and we are going to bless everyone with the spirit of laughter,” said Akintunde.
And no night of praise would be complete without a little gospel music to bring it on home. That’s exactly what Sunday Best Season 4 winner Amber Bullock provided. With her jazz-fusion sound brand of gospel music, Bullock gave the audience a great big dose of church with her rendition of “For Every Mountain.”
“Eric Dawkins of Dawkins and Dawkins produced my first record and we didnt want to give people the same stuff. So we came up with a different version of “For Every Mountain” and I like this version better than the other because it’s more me,” said Bullock.
David Mann is originally from Fort Worth, Texas and has starred in numerous Tyler Perry productions. He and Tamela were both part of the Kirk Franklin ensemble “The Family.” The ‘Mann and Wife’ stars have been married over 26 years.
Night of Laughter and Praise was presented by Encore Vision Entertainment.
